Mental Health Adult Foster Care From Accord™
A Great Housing Option for Adults with Mental Health
Accord's™ Mental Health Adult Foster Care program provides residents with a safe, supportive environment where they can learn to live and socialize within their community.
Adult Foster Care can be a great housing option for those with serious and persistent mental health issues that require day and night supervision. Additional benefits include medication monitoring and transportation.
Adult Foster Care (AFC) is for individuals who would benefit from the support and supervision of mental health professionals on a daily basis. Accord currently operates six Mental Health Adult Foster Care homes. Staff provide training and assistance with daily living skills, goal oriented support, and medication management. In case of crisis, staff are trained to respond. All six locations have obtained a certification as Mental Health AFCs.
Eligibility for Adult Foster Care
Individuals living in Adult Foster Care must have a diagnosis of severe and persistent mental health. In order to be eligible for Adult Foster Care, the person must be receiving services through a CADI waiver (Community Alternatives for Disabled Individuals) or TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) waiver. Room and board costs are typically covered by the person's Social Security benefits. Group Residential Housing (GRH) funds may also be available to supplement Social Security.
