Ali Stroker Making History

On Sunday, June 9 singer and actress Ali Stroker won the Tony award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her role as Ado Annie in Broadway’s revival of “Oklahoma!” The actress is the first-ever Tony winner to use a wheelchair. The 31-year-old New Jersey native lost the use of her legs when she was just 2 years old in a car accident.

“This award is for every kid who is watching tonight who has a disability, who has a limitation or a challenge, who has been waiting to see themselves represented in this arena – you are,” said Stroker during her acceptance speech.
