Accord Attends 2020 Disability Services Day at the Capitol
On Tuesday, March 10, Accord™ participated in the annual Disability Services Day at the Minnesota State Capitol. The yearly event was hosted by MOHR and ARRM. Community organizations were invited to the Capitol Rotunda to help spread a message of the importance of supporting community-based disability services.
More than 1,000 people from organizations across the Twin Cities gathered on Tuesday to share their stance on current legislative issues facing the disability community in Minnesota. These issues included Direct Support Professional (DSP) wages, and high turnover and large job vacancies.
Gov. Tim Walz spoke at the rally to voice support for higher wages and more robust staffing.
Members from Accord’s day services program attended the event to rally for these causes. They also got a chance to tour the Capitol building!
