Your Vote is Your Voice: National Disability Voter Registration Week

September 13th – 20th, 2021 is National Disability Voter Registration Week. This week is designed to bring awareness to the importance of voting, advocate for improved voting accessibility and promote voting participation within the disability community.

Why is it important to vote?

When you vote, you are choosing the representatives that will make decisions about legislation and policies that will directly affect you. Your vote is your voice: through your vote, you are sending a message about what issues are important to you. State and city governments are often responsible for budgeting and funding programs, services, and infrastructure that will directly impact you at the local level.

Minnesota has the largest gap in voter turnout between disabled and non-disabled voters in the country. Turnout for voters with a disability is nearly 20% lower than for non-disabled voters.
