National Disability Voter Registration Week

The week of July 15-19 is National Disability Voter Registration Week. Voter registration drives are a great way to promote community involvement and civic participation across the country. There are many issues that American are passionate about i.e.- education, transportation, healthcare etc. The first step is to help your community get registered to vote!

The REV UP Campaign coordinates National Disability Voter Registration Week (NDVRW) each year on the third week of July to increase the political power of people with disabilities while also engaging candidates and the media to recognize the disability community. REV UP stands for Register! Educate! Vote! Use your Power!

REV UP is actively fighting for the fair and civic inclusion of people with disabilities in every political, social, and economic front. They know the disabled community has experienced violence beyond imaginable, been overly institutionalized, been denied access to competitive employment, and have often had their rights trampled on. There is a desperate need for those in politics and power to enforce the rights of 1/5th of the U.S. population – people with disabilities. Voting is the tool for expressing our voices and opinions. Voting gives our communities access to increased opportunities and satisfaction.

Your vote affects everything. It can make a difference on poverty rates and it can help eliminate discriminating practices. Voting impacts your access to healthcare, education, transportation, etc.
