Tell Congress to Account For Disability Services in Budget

Child boy protest in front of the USA capitol in Washington holding sign saying disability matters

Congress is in the final stretch of finalizing its budget reconciliation bill. These final negotiations will determine whether Congress will deliver on the President’s promise to strengthen and expand Medicaid Home and Community Based Services (HCBS).

We know firsthand that the COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated the DSP workforce crisis in our state. It has forced providers to discontinue services, turn away new referrals, delay the launch of new programs, and caused great struggles in quality delivery across the state. Without a sustainable direct care workforce, individuals with disabilities’ access to services remains threatened. Congress must invest in the DSP workforce, or the Medicaid HCBS program will continue to fall far short of reaching everyone in need.
Now is the time to insist that your members of Congress fully fund the HCBS program and address the DSP workforce crisis. Please help by following the link below and filling out a short and quick form to tell your representatives about the much needed funding.
