What You Need to Know About the Stay at Home Order

On Wednesday afternoon, Gov. Tim Walz issued a Stay at Home order for the state of Minnesota to further efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. In the order, Gov. Walz explained several important ways Minnesotans can aid in the fight against the virus. Below we break down the things you need to know from the Stay at Home order.

When does it start?
The Stay at Home order officially goes into affect on Friday, March 27 at 11:59 p.m.

What does Stay at Home mean?
As with previous executive orders, schools, bars, restaurants, and other public gathering places will remain closed. In addition to this, the Governor is asking everyone to stay in their homes for two weeks. Those who can work from home should do so. Essential workers such as doctors, nurses, and human service provides can still report to work if their job cannot be done anywhere else.

I can’t leave my home at all?
When possible, it is best to stay in your home. However, the Stay at Home order does permit Minnesota residents to leave their home to buy essential supplies, go to the doctor, and do outdoor activities.

How long will this order last?
The Stay at Home order will extend to April 10.

How does this affect Accord services and supports?
Home Health services will continue as usual. If you or anyone in your home is feeling sick, please contact us before your scheduled visit. Some of our services like Case Management and Employment Services are transitioning to telehealth capabilities. Our day services will remain closed through the Stay at Home order (April 10). Our AFC Homes will remain open with regular staff supervision. Accord admin offices are closed to the public.
